Customer relationship management systems – or CRM systems for short – are hugely beneficial to businesses of all sizes. If you have never used this type of software before, read on to learn about some of its key features to get a better idea of how it might well be able to benefit your business.

Central system

One of the main benefits of a CRM system is that it allows you to store valuable information in a single, central system. This can help to coordinate information and the actions of your business, helping to make sure that different departments all
know what’s going on right across the company. This is important for ensuring good, company-wide communication so is definitely a good reason to look into establishing a CRM system.

Contact database

At its most basic level, CRM software acts as a comprehensive customer database, which means you’ll always know vital information about your clients. You can update your customer list quickly and easily and make sure you have all the information you need to create good, long-lasting and effective relationships with them.

Track sales leads

Another key feature of CRM software is that it allows you to track leads as they progress. This can be useful for sales teams when they are working on new leads as it allows them to update their actions. This not only gives management an overview
of what’s going on but it can also provide a good way of sharing best practice and important information with colleagues. This sort of information can also be used in company audits and when reviewing procedures to make sure they are as effective and efficient as they can be.

Customer communication

You can also use CRM solutions to aid your customer communications. For example, you can utilise your customer database to send regular email newsletter updates to make sure everyone is informed about what’s going on in your company. This is very useful for marketing campaigns and you can also make use of templates that come with the CRM software so that you can standardise your communication forms and grow your professional image.

Integrated services

CRM systems often also allow you to integrate other services with the software to make it as useful as possible. For instance, being able to sync online maps and email accounts with your CRM software is a good way of making sure you always have up
to date contact information for your clients. You can also integrate calendars so you know what needs to be done and when.

Performance information

Finally, your business’s management team will be able to use your CRM system to view and analyse performance information. They will be able to set up reports so they can see at a glance what is going on and areas where more attention needs to be given. They can also produce graphs, which can be very useful for internal analysis as well as communications. This can also be a good way of reviewing different aspects of the business so the management team always knows what’s going on at every level of the company.

It’s important to be smart about your finances whenever you’re borrowing money. Since cash advances can have very high interest rates depending on how quickly they’re paid off, it’s especially important to be wise about these short term loans if you’re in a position to need one.

Cash advances can have annual interest rates as high as 400%, depending on how quickly they’re paid off. The longer you extend your payments for, the higher your interest rate will be, just like any debt product. When borrowing payday cash loans, make sure you account for the interest when deciding how much to borrow.

The main reason consumers get into trouble with payday loans is forgetting to take interest rates into account. The average cash advance costs $15 per $100. That means you’ll pay $115 for a $100 loan on the day your full payment is due. You’ll pay $575 in total for a $500 cash advance. The higher your loan, the more significant these fees become. Make sure your next paycheck can cover these fees in addition to the loan before you commit to borrowing.

Don’t forget that you have other options besides payday loans. Credit cards, savings accounts, and borrowing from friends or family are all options that can be less expensive and often just as convenient as a cash advance. It’s important to do what makes sense for your finances. If a cash advance is the best option for you, then borrow one, but stay smart about it.

If you’re having trouble affording your cash loan, talk to your lender about payment plans or speak with a debt counselor to get your finances back on track. Don’t create a bigger problem for yourself just for the sake of convenience. Make sure you can afford the cash you borrow and pay off your debt on time to stay financially healthy.

The hit taken by the economy means that innovation is now key to success and this is something that a lot of small businesses are very good at. If you work for or run a small company and are looking for ways to grow your business out of the recession, read on for some ideas.

If you are looking to grow your business, then the first thing you need to do is make sure it is already as efficient as it can be. This will make sure you are only spending what you need to, therefore maximising the resources you have to invest in your
business. For instance, think about your payroll. Quite a lot of small companies still do their payroll manually, but it is much more efficient to use payroll software.

For a relatively small initial investment, you can save lots of time. The payroll software will be able to do your tax and NI calculations, produce reports and payslips, store records and generally save you a lot of time. This is great for your business as it means you will have more resources to dedicate elsewhere. There are also great payroll courses and payroll training options available to help you maximise the efficiency of the software.

Once you are satisfied that your business is operating as well as it possibly can, it’s time to start looking elsewhere in order to grow it. Quite often, you might find that your competitors went under in the recession and so it could be a good idea to get in
touch with their previous clients to see if there’s any business to be had. You could also ask your existing clients whether there’s any other way you could help them or if they know anyone who might be in need of your services.

Overall, think carefully about your current position and where you want to go, so you can map out a path to achieve your goals while still maintaining those all-important high standards of quality.

Payroll software is something that can help a lot of companies, from the very small up to the very large. Around 99% of businesses in the UK count as ‘small businesses’, so statistically most payroll software is used by them – but it also has uses for other businesses, while some small businesses might decide they can do without it. This article looks at the sort of companies that need to use payroll software.

If you are a sole trader then it is highly unlikely that you will need to use it, as your payroll requirements will be minimal and relatively straightforward to sort out. If you find yourself in the position of employing a few people, however, then it could
definitely help you.

Payroll software helps to minimize the risk of errors in your payroll and makes sure your deductions are all correct, and that everything is carried out on time and to the proper standard. This is especially useful for small businesses, as they don’t always have specialist financial staff to carry out such functions: a computerized payroll software solution can make things much easier, as well as saving time so you can focus on other aspects of your business.

It’s also really useful for medium-sized and large companies, too. This is because the larger your company is, the more complicated your payroll is likely to be. If you have more employees, you will naturally have more calculations to sort out. This will include things such as pension contributions, maternity leave, student loans and more: having payroll software will help to make sorting this out much easier.

Plus, any good payroll software provider will also offer payroll courses or payroll training so that you can make the most of your new software – and benefit your business as much as possible.

You might be surprised to learn that the notion of the payroll dates back to the 15th century. Originally, bookkeeping developed as a means of helping merchants keep track of their sales, but over the centuries it has developed into something much more complex. Now, as well as keeping records of what has been sold, companies need to account for what they pay their employees, when they pay them and all the deductions that go along with it.

Needless to say, tax law is a lot more complicated now than it was when the art of bookkeeping began to developed back in Italy more than half a millennium ago, so it’s no surprise that the systems involved with the process have evolved too. Up until fairly recently, a lot of workers were paid cash in hand, largely on a weekly basis. This made it harder for the authorities to assess how much was being paid in tax and also to audit the money that went through companies.

As businesses expanded and regulation began to catch up with it – with workers’ rights being championed, among other developments – payroll software began to be developed. This made it much easier for firms to account for their outgoings, which was not only beneficial for them when it came to dealings with the taxman but also when they were trying to maximize the efficiency of their businesses. The payroll software made it much more obvious how much they were paying out every month and made it easier to calculate deductions such as tax, NI and pensions so errors were less likely to be made.

Now, payroll software such as that produced by SAGE is recognised to be hugely beneficial to businesses of all sizes. This has led to the development of payroll courses and payroll training in order to help standardize industry practice and make sure businesses are getting the most out of this useful software.

Middle-class families in Britain could find themselves resorting to an IVA in greater numbers in 2011, in a bid to undergo debt consolidation.

A Commons Treasury committee report published this week has highlighted the concerns of a group of accountants over changes in taxation that will leave single-earning families with higher incomes worst hit by the new rules.

It’s believed the Chartered Institute of Taxation is citing a ‘significant fairness issue’ which will see families that bring home more than £40,000 facing potential debt issues because of their ‘considerable increase in tax burden’.

630,000 extra people will now have to pay tax at the 40 per cent rate – while the lowering of access to tax credits for this group is set to cost a family with two children £1,750, each year.

If you’re looking for personal bankruptcy advice, require help dealing with ccj’s or simply want to find out alternative debt solutions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

With so many different kinds of bank accounts currently available it can be hard to know what is necessary and what’s not. Certain kinds of bank accounts can help to simplify your finances or give you the extra flexibility you need to keep things ticking over smoothly from month to month. Others will maximize your savings potential. Others will help you manage your mortgage. Taking the time to reassess your bank accounts and deciding what works for you and your money and what could be improved is likely to be a financially rewarding activity.

A good current account is a must. Your current account deals with all of your most basic financial transactions and can make a huge difference to the ease with which your money can be accessed. One important aspect of efficient finance management is the ability to be able to move our money from one place to another at the touch of a button. For many
people, moving money from their current account to their savings account online means that they are obliged to keep all their accounts with the same provider. This is not always the case, however, and it can restrict your choices, so do your research and be sure of your options before you commit to any long term savings schemes.

Savings accounts come in all different shapes and sizes. Most people will opt for a tax free account if they are eligible. ISAs, whether they be online accounts or fixed term savings arrangements, often offer the most competitive rates of interest on your saved pennies and pounds. There are alternatives, however. Investment bonds, such as corporate bonds, ultimately have the potential to offer greater returns and could be worth investigating with your bank.

The best way to find out what the best bank accounts are for you is to stay aware of what’s on the market. Read up on Santander’s latest credit card or investigate the newest online banking corporation to emerge on the world wide web. Keeping your hand in and your knowledge level high is key to staying ahead when it comes to personal finances.

About a month ago, Congress and President Obama signed a 2 year temporary tax cut that will keep the tax rates consistent with what we pay now. In fact, he also passed the 2011 payroll tax holiday, which increases the first 106,800 in pay by 2%. Not bad.

Well, because these tax changes (or staying-the-sames) were passed so late in the year, the IRS announced a February 14th start date for processing tax returns for returns claiming itemized deductions on Schedule A, the higher education tuition and fees deduction on Form 8917 and the educator expenses deduction. They estimate about 9 million people will have to delay their tax filing because of this.

Ok, so you’re ready to make your tax payments but you’ve got about 3 weeks to wait, plus another 8 to 15 days until you get your refund. But you want your refund as soon as possible because you have expenses and were counting on this! Suddenly, quick payday loans are suddenly starting to sound like a good option!

Well, before we go that far, let’s take a full look at the options. Some are good, some are not so good. The way I see it, there are 3 options at this point:

1. Put it on your credit card until you get your refund. Not a terrible option if it’s less than a full billing cycle, in which case it’s free. If it’s a little more, you’ll pay at a 25% interest rate, but if it’s only for a few days, you’ll recover.

2. Get a loan from a friend or family member. If you’re really close and the amount of money you want isn’t much of an issue, it may not be terrible. However, there are risks involved, such as you not being able to pay back and them hating you and cutting you out of their will. So be sure that you’ll be able to pay it back!

3. Take out a payday loan. Probably the worst idea possible. They are easy to get but the payday loans risks are high. You’ll pay exorbitant rates from day one, and if your refund doesn’t come when you want it (or at all, or if you get audited) it could be awhile before you finish paying it off.

I’ve thought a lot about why I want to become a millionaire, but I can’t seem to define a concrete reason.

I don’t think it’s so that I can flaunt the wealth, and laugh at everyone who hasn’t reached this goal. I don’t think I’ll live a more posh lifestyle. And I don’t think it’ll make me stuck up or high-maintenance – at least I sure hope not!

However, for some reason, it IS something I’d like to accomplish in my lifetime.

Maybe I just like the fact that it’ll take a lot of focus, energy, and concentration to reach the goal. It’ll give me something to look forward to – a bit of purpose, perhaps. However, I don’t want this to be the defining moment in my life. After all, I’ve name this site MORE than Finances for a reason. Maybe this blog will serve as an outlet for discovering that reason, and it that sense it’ll be therapeutic and satisfying.

Therefore, to help keep myself accountable and stay motivated, I’ve joined a group of bloggers who have a similar goal. The group is known as . . . the Million Dollar Club!

Everybody in the club has made a list of actions we must take and decisions we must make to reach our goals. So, in order for me to earn a million dollars, I will:

Max out my 401k and Roth IRA

Live frugally, but not cheaply

Avoid excess materialism

Pursue multiple streams of income

Continually educate myself to increase my skill-set

Work hard, yet not obsess over money

Think long and hard before taking on debt

Avoid get-rich-quick schemes

And ENJOY the journey!

So there’s my list. Check out J. Money’s blog to see the rest of the group!

Woohoo! My post about the five documents you should consider in your estate plan was featured in this week’s Carnival of Personal Finance. This is just the second time that I’ve been included in a carnival, but I think I’m getting the hang of it.

There definitely seems to be a lot of work that goes into hosting a carnival, so I appreciate the work done by the host. Check out Mighty Bargain Hunter’s blog for a variety of articles on subjects such as getting rid of debt, name-brand vs. store-brand cereals, and increasing cash flow. He even created a site where you can ask your money-related questions and get answers from their community.

Also, my post on the key factor to consider when selecting an insurance company was featured in Cavalcade of Risk, a carnival that features articles related to risk management. Take a look at Ironman’s Political Calculations blog for articles on whether renter’s insurance is worth the cost, an introduction to long-term care insurance, and more!
