AWS and NVIDIA Introduces Revolutionary Blackwell GPUs, Boosting Generative AI Capabilities

High-tech titans, Amazon Web Services (AWS) and NVIDIA, have recently announced an extended collaboration aimed at advancing generative AI innovation. 

This dynamic partnership will introduce the revolutionary NVIDIA Blackwell GPU platform to AWS, giving customers a robust suite of tools to leverage generative AI capabilities.

By pairing NVIDIA’s Grace Blackwell Superchip and B100 Tensor Core GPUs with AWS’s myriad services, both companies are not only extending their strategic tie-up but also paving the way for customers to unlock new generative AI potential. 

This fusion of top-tier tech includes NVIDIA’s multi-node systems featuring the next-generation NVIDIA Blackwell platform and AI software, AWS’s Nitro System for advanced security, Elastic Fabric Adapter (EFA) for petabit-scale networking, and Amazon EC2 UltraCluster for hyper-scale clustering.

In words of the CEO at AWS, Adam Selipsky, “NVIDIA’s next-generation Grace Blackwell processor marks a significant step forward in generative AI and GPU computing. 

When combined with AWS’s powerful Elastic Fabric Adapter Networking, Amazon EC2 UltraClusters’ hyper-scale clustering, and our unique Nitro system’s advanced virtualization and security capabilities, we make it possible for customers to build and run multi-trillion parameter large language models faster, at massive scale, and more securely than anywhere else.”

Propelling AI Innovation

On the future aspirations of this deal, Jensen Huang, founder and CEO of NVIDIA, expressed, “Our collaboration with AWS is accelerating new generative AI capabilities and providing customers with unprecedented computing power to push the boundaries of what’s possible.”

Pushing the boundaries seems to be an apt description as latest innovations from AWS and NVIDIA promise to fast-track resource-intensive, multi-trillion parameter language models. 

This comes as a result of the new NVIDIA Blackwell platform featuring 72 Blackwell GPUs and 36 Grace CPUs, being integrated with AWS’s powerful networking and hyper-scale clustering to enable customers for an upscale of workload.

Among other plans, AWS intends to offer EC2 instances carrying the new B100 GPUs in EC2 UltraClusters for enhancing generative AI training and inference at colossal scale.

A Stride towards Heightened Security

A forethought in this collaboration appears to be top-notch security, considering their advanced infrastructure and AI services’ security measures. The partnership introduces a trifecta of security consisting of the AWS Nitro System, encrypted EFA, and Blackwell encryption. 

Accordingly, customers will be able to create a trusted execution environment alongside their EC2 instance, using AWS Nitro Enclaves and AWS KMS, ensuring unparalleled control over their data.
